The Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) invite you to join a webinar on Russia’s tightening control over internet freedom.

This webinar presents the report 'Access Denied'. The report is written by the Anti-Corruption Foundation. The report provides an overview of the current landscape of internet restrictions in Russia, including a clear explanation of the technical infrastructure that enables state-imposed blocking.

The report also identifies the most effective methods for circumventing these restrictions. In addition, the presentation will analyse Russian state policy in this domain and discuss potential strategies for resistance.

Invited experts:

Artyom Ionov
Senior IT specialist at the Anti-Corruption Foundation, responsible for the organisation’s IT infrastructure since 2019; author of the ACF report "Access Denied"; member of the team that successfully countered the Russian authorities’ internet blocking mechanisms during the elections.

Alexander Pomazuev
Head of International Advocacy at the Anti-Corruption Foundation, PhD in Law; has been working with Navalny's team since 2017, worked as a lawyer in election campaigns in Russia, defended the interests of politicians and their organizations in national courts and the ECHR; specializes in administrative law and international sanctions.

 

The webinar will be hosted and moderated by Stefan Ingvarsson, Project Lead and analyst at the Stockholm centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) at the Swedish Institute for International Affairs (UI).
