SCEEUS roundtable with UN Monitoring Mission on human rights and accountability in Ukraine

How can accountability for Russia’s international crimes in Ukraine be effectively pursued - and what is being done right now to achieve it? On Tuesday, 18 November, SCEEUS hosted a roundtable discussion in cooperation with the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU). The event featured Danielle Bell, Head of HRMMU, and Wayne Jordash, President of Global Rights Compliance.

In her presentation, Danielle Bell outlined the Mission’s current work and recent report, highlighting the vast number of civilian casualties and the prevalance of prisoners of war being subject to  sexual and gender-based violence and other forms of torture. This was followed by an in-depth discussion on accountability mechanisms for international crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine, with Wayne Jordash providing legal perspectives on current and emerging processes.
