An evening highlighting contemporary Belarusian culture with special guests: novelist Eva Vezhnavets, poet Valzhyna Mort, musician Svetlana Ben and the leader of the democratic movement in the country Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Also participating are Swedish Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand, translator Mikael Nydahl, and actors Gunnel Fred and Hannes Meidal. The program includes readings, talks, reflections, and music.

Eva Vezhnavets (nom de plume for Sviatlana Kurs) was born in 1972 outside Minsk. Her debut What Is It You Seek, Wolf? has just been appeared in Swedish translation (by Krystsina Banduryna and Mikael Nydahl). The novel was a sensation when it came out in her native language. It is the first book published by Pflaumbaum, the publishing house started by Nobel laureate Svetlana Alexievich. She currently lives and works in Warsaw. Sveta Ben (Vitebsk/Berlin) is a singer, actress, theater director and writer. She is a participant of numerous musical and theatrical projects in Belarus and abroad, the author of poems, fairy tales, plays and music for theater, animated films and cinema. Currently, she lives and works in Berlin and tours in Europe.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya
Leader of the Belarusian democratic movement. As the leader of the Belarusian democratic movement, she has visited 28 countries, gathering support and advocating for the release of more than 1500 political prisoners and a peaceful transition of power through free and fair elections. Among dozens of distinctions, she is a recipient of the Sakharov Prize awarded by the European Parliament, the 2022 International Four Freedoms Award, and the Charlemagne Prize.

Valzhyna Mort is a poet and translator born in Minsk, Belarus. She is the author of three poetry collections, Factory of Tears (Copper Canyon Press, 2008), Collected Body (Copper Canyon Press, 2011) and, most recently, Music for the Dead and Resurrected (FSG, 2020), named one of the best poetry book of 2020 by The New York Times and The NPR, and the winner of the 2020 International Griffin Poetry Prize and the 2022 UNT Rilke Prize.
