What is the role of China in Ukraine’s reconstruction?

China’s role in relation to Ukraine, and not least the approach of Beijing to playing a role in the Ukrainian economy is a topic that has not received much attention. Looking ahead, understanding China’s ambitions, Ukraine’s needs and the broader ramifications of Chinese-Ukrainian ties will be important as Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery gain momentum.

Yesterday, SCEEUS, together with the Swedish National China Centre, hosted a roundtable discussion on China’s role in Ukraine’s reconstruction. The event featured Dmitro Yefremov, Researcher at the Department of Government at Uppsala University.

The discussion addressed key questions about China’s potential economic and political involvement in Ukraine’s future, as well as the challenges and opportunities this may present.
