Elections in Moldova: Roundtable Discussion with Experts at SCEEUS

On October 20, Moldova held a presidential election, and on the same day, a referendum was conducted on amending the constitution to include the country’s aspiration towards EU membership.

In light of these events, SCEEUS organized a roundtable discussion focusing on several key issues for Moldova’s future. Where does Moldova stand in the geopolitical conflict between Russia and the West? What role does Russia’s hybrid warfare play? What is the significance of the elections for Moldova’s path toward EU integration?

The panel featured Kristina Melin from FOI, who recently authored the report Moldova Votes on European Future Amid Continued Security Challenges, and Jakob Hedenskog from SCEEUS, who also recently published a report on Moldova titled Moldova’s European Defining Moment. The discussion was moderated by Johan Engvall from SCEEUS.
