Conference on youth and gender equality issues in Belarus

On 11 May 2026, Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs in cooperation with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, organised a conference in Stockholm on youth and gender equality issues in Belarus. The forum gathered youth representative of the Belarusian democratic movement and civil society representatives, decision-makers and experts from Sweden and the EU. The aim of the forum is to highlight the importance of young people’s political participation to the democratic development of Belarus. 

Speakers included the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces in exile Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dag Hartelius, SCEEUS Director Fredrik Löjdquist, and acting Director-General of Sida Hanna Hellquist.
