Roundtable discussion with Sergei Medvedev

On 21 April, SCEEUS welcomed Russian scholar and author Sergei Medvedev for a roundtable discussion on the theme: "Does Russia have a future?".

The discussion was based on Sergei's books The Return of the Russian Leviathan (2019) and the upcoming A War Made in Russia (June 2023), in which Medvedev examines Russia's national identity and its political implications. How to understand the country's aggressive imperialism and militarism? According to Medvedev, the invasion of Ukraine is not due to Putin or an extremist elite, but is the result of deep structural problems in Russian society that will remain for a long time to come.
